India Independence Day Celebration

Date: 8/15/2021, 9 am – 2 pm

Location: William E Peterson Park, 16652 N Buffalo Grove Rd, Vernon Hills, IL 60069

Attendance: There were about 1000 Lake County public attended the event.

Description: The event welcomes everyone from Lake County and neighborhood residents to participate, celebrate Indian Independence Day, introduce, promote the food, culture and traditions to the community. This event also gives opportunity to our leaders a chance to meet and greet Indian American community and encourage everyone to bring the communities together. The celebration started with cultural performances. In total about 25 cultural performances performed by 250 children aging 4 to 18 years. Event was attended by 15 elected leaders at National, state and local government levels, including a U.S Congressman. Elected leaders gave speeches and encouraged crowd to organize, participate more culturally diversified events like this event. There were about 30 small businesses and boutiques from across greater Chicago area to show case their products and services. There were also six different food vendors to serve the community with various flavors of food. 

Activities: Guest Speakers, Unity Walk, Kids Performances, Cultural Performances, Food and Vendors
