Charitable Policy
1. Purpose
The Lake County Indians Association (LCIA) is committed to supporting charitable activities that align with its mission of embracing and preserving Indian culture, contributing to the growth and diversity of the Lake County community, and supporting underprivileged families and noble causes. This policy outlines the guidelines and procedures for charitable giving by LCIA.
2. Scope
This policy applies to all charitable donations, contributions, and sponsorships made by LCIA, including cash donations, in-kind donations, sponsorships and service fee waiv for events and programs.
3. Guidelines for Charitable Giving
3.1 Eligibility: LCIA may provide charitable support to organizations that are recognizedas tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and are in alignment with LCIA's mission and values.

3.2 Types of Support: LCIA may provide support in the form of cash donations, in-kind donations, and sponsorships for events and programs that align with its mission and goals.

3.3 Donation Criteria: All charitable donations will be evaluated based on the impact of the donation on the community, the alignment with LCIA's mission and values, and the financial need of the recipient organization.

3.4 Donation Approval: All charitable donations must be approved by the LCIA Board of Directors or a designated committee responsible for charitable giving.
4. Procedures for Charitable Giving
4.1 Donation Requests: Organizations seeking charitable support from LCIA must submit a formal request outlining the purpose of the donation, the amount requested, and how the donation aligns with LCIA's mission and values.

4.2 Review and Approval: The Board of Directors or the designated committee will review all donation requests and make a decision based on the guidelines outlined in this policy.

4.3 Notification: Organizations will be notified of the decision regarding their donation request in a timely manner.
5. Reporting and Evaluation
LCIA will maintain records of all charitable donations, including the recipient organization, the amount donated, and the purpose of the donation. An annual report summarizing all charitable activities will be presented to the Board of Directors and made available to the public.
6. Compliance
LCIA will comply with all applicable laws and regulations governing charitable giving, including those related to tax-exempt status and reporting requirements.
7. Amendments
This policy may be amended by the Board of Directors as needed to reflect changes in LCIA's charitable giving practices or to comply with legal requirements.
